Jannik Sinner has achieved a historic feat as the first Italian male tennis player in 48 years to clinch a Grand Slam title, sparking widespread congratulatory messages from Italian football personalities and clubs across social media platforms.

Milan was among the frontrunners in extending praise to the tennis sensation following his Australian Open victory on Sunday. Sinner, a devoted Rossoneri supporter, made a notable appearance at San Siro stadium last November during a Champions League encounter against Borussia Dortmund.

Just days prior to his triumph, Sinner contributed to Italy’s Davis Cup victory, with the entire San Siro crowd chanting in his honor before the match.

Other prominent Italian football clubs such as Juventus, Roma, and Inter also joined in congratulating Sinner via social media platforms on Sunday. Lega Serie A even posted a symbolic carrot on X, formerly known as Twitter, representing the Italian tennis star.

Numerous football figures throughout Italy closely followed Sinner’s intense final against Russian player Daniil Medvedev on Sunday, including Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and Sassuolo’s Italian star Domenico Berardi. Berardi, currently sidelined due to a knee injury, expressed admiration for Sinner’s resilience after the latter bounced back from being two sets down: “Phenomenon, never give up,” wrote the Sassuolo player.
