The champions of Ligue 1 activated the €20 million (£17m/£22m) release clause of the 18-year-old, securing his signature ahead of competition from Chelsea and Barcelona. The announcement of his signing was delayed due to a foot fracture detected during medical tests. However, the capital club has now given the green light to his transfer, officially confirming it on Thursday.
Upon finalizing the deal, Moscardo expressed his joy, stating, “I am very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain, it is one of the happiest days of my life. It is a project with talented young players. I can’t wait to join the group and meet the whole team and staff. I hope to win many trophies under the Red & Blue colours and make the supporters happy.”
Moscardo is set to be loaned back to Corinthians until the summer to gain further senior football experience before making the transition to Parc des Princes. He will also undergo surgery to address the foot injury that initially delayed his transfer, with the procedure scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar.
After losing out on Endrick to Real Madrid, PSG left no stone unturned in their efforts to secure Moscardo for Paris. Reports suggest that the club’s sporting director, Luis Campoa, went to Brazil to persuade the player, especially as Chelsea and Arsenal were also vying for his services.
