La Repubblica newspaper stated that Newcastle initiated the bidding for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in early January, but Tottenham Hotspur eventually offered more, surpassing the Magpies’ bid.
The 21-year-old center-back is a highly sought-after Serie A player in the current winter transfer window, with multiple clubs vying for his services.
Tottenham, Napoli, Milan, and Bayern Munich have expressed interest in the Romanian international. La Repubblica mentioned that AC Milan is considering a player-plus-cash deal involving Lorenzo Colombo.
Initially, Newcastle expressed interest in Dragusin at the start of January, valuing the player at €25m. However, Spurs outbid them with an offer of €26m, potentially rising to around €30m with add-ons.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Genoa engaged in new discussions with all the clubs interested in Dragusin on Monday morning.
Despite the interest, Genoa seems unhurried to offload the former Juventus defender during this January transfer window.
