Manchester City will once again opt out of displaying the Emirates FA Cup sleeve patches when they face Huddersfield Town. The upcoming FA Cup defense match against the Championship side at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday will not feature the sleeve patches that promote the FA Cup sponsors, Emirates—a prominent airline representing the United Arab Emirates.

Etihad, another airline and City’s primary sponsors, have their branding on the team’s shirts and the stadium. In the 2019 FA Cup final, City creatively incorporated the word ‘choose’ above their Etihad sponsor, showcasing a playful touch.

Last season, the FA Cup became City’s second triumph in their Treble conquest, following their earlier clinching of the Premier League title before Ilkay Gundogan scored the winning goal in the Champions League final against Andre Onana.

To retain their hold on the FA Cup trophy, City must ensure they navigate past Huddersfield without any setbacks. The Terriers have faced difficulties in the Championship this season, finding themselves in the relegation zone.

City may face the absence of Jeremy Doku and John Stones in this clash. However, there’s a possibility of Erling Haaland returning to the first-team lineup after missing the Club World Cup due to a foot injury.

Kevin De Bruyne, who suffered a hamstring injury on the Premier League’s opening day against Burnley, is edging closer to a return to first-team action.
