Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has sealed a loan move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt at the onset of the January transfer window. The 26-year-old Dutchman, who joined United from Ajax in 2020 for £40 million, struggled for playing time, featuring only twice in the first half of the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt has an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season for a reported fee of around £9.5 million, potentially rising to £12 million with add-ons. This move could result in a significant loss for United, marking a departure from Van de Beek’s limited opportunities and form struggles at Old Trafford.

Despite working with Eintracht Frankfurt manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax during the 2018-2019 season, Van de Beek faced exclusion from all six matchday squads for the 2023 Champions League group stages with United. A strong loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt could potentially see him earn a permanent move, working his way back into contention for the Netherlands national team ahead of Euro 2024.
