Luka Jovic’s late leveling goal spared AC Milan from a loss in Serie A, resulting in a 2-2 draw against the league’s lowest-ranked team, Salernitana, on Friday.

In the previous round, the Rossoneri comfortably secured a 3-0 win, welcoming Ismael Bennacer back into the starting lineup. Salernitana, on the other hand, had a dismal season with just one victory in 16 matches before Friday’s game, as reported by Xinhua.

Milan took the lead in the 17th minute as Rafael Leao delivered a cross from the right, leading to Fikayo Tomori’s eventual goal after a series of deflections.

Bennacer’s poor clearance posed a risk of an own goal, but it was redirected away by his teammate, Mike Maignan.

However, Salernitana managed to equalize in the 43rd minute with Federico Fazio’s powerful header beating Maignan, followed by Antonio Candreva’s long-range shot in the 63rd minute, turning the game in their favor.

To avoid defeat, Stefano Pioli made a bold move by bringing on Jovic and Samuel Chukwueze in the 72nd minute. This tactical decision paid off in the 90th minute when Olivier Giroud’s header set up Jovic for the crucial equalizing goal.

Despite the draw, Milan remains in third place with 33 points, maintaining a three-point lead over fourth-placed Fiorentina, who secured a 1-0 victory over Monza on Friday.

In other matches, Lazio bounced back from their 2-0 home loss against Inter Milan by dominating Empoli 2-0, while Genoa staged a comeback to defeat Sassuolo 2-1.
