The last encounter between the Reds and their rivals ended in a dominant 7-0 victory for Liverpool at Anfield back in March. Gakpo, the Dutch forward, kicked off the scoring for his team in the first half and swiftly secured a brace, marking Liverpool’s most significant win against the Red Devils in their history. Now, Gakpo is optimistic about replicating that outstanding performance, aiming for another commanding triumph against Erik ten Hag’s struggling squad.

Addressing the media, the Netherlands international reminisced, “It was a great game that one. We knew we had to win and after a good first half from both teams the second half we really dominated and scored a lot of goals. I scored just before half-time and I think just two minutes after half-time Darwin (Nunez) scored the second one and two minutes after I scored the third. It was good for us to score that quick after half-time and kill the game. It was amazing.”

“At one point you are not really looking at the score, you just want to dominate and show your best and I think everyone had a really great game that day. Hopefully, we can repeat it.”

United faces challenges with multiple injuries and suspensions as they approach this pivotal Premier League clash. Former captain Harry Maguire’s absence due to injury and current skipper Bruno Fernandes’ suspension after accumulating five yellow cards in the ongoing season will affect their lineup.

Jurgen Klopp’s team, currently holding a slender one-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the table, cannot afford to be complacent. They aim to extend their Premier League winning streak to four games as they meet United at Anfield on Sunday.
