Napoli has asserted its dominance in the Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) team of the year, securing five out of eleven spots, while Inter and Milan each contribute three representatives to the 2023 lineup.

Since its inception in 1968, this annual event celebrates various awards, including club of the year, coach of the year, and goal of the season, all claimed by Napoli, Luciano Spalletti, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, respectively, this year.

An additional highlight is the team of the season, assembling the standout players from the past calendar year. The 2023 lineup follows a 4-3-3 formation, featuring players solely from three clubs.

Milan’s Mike Maignan is the chosen goalkeeper, supported by a back four including Napoli’s captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Bayern Munich’s recent addition Kim Min-jae, Champions League finalist Alessandro Bastoni, and teammate Theo Hernandez.

The midfield for 2023 includes two regulars from Inter, Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella, alongside Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka.

The attacking lineup, unsurprisingly, includes Milan’s pivotal playmaker Rafael Leao, along with 2022-23 Capocannoniere winner Victor Osimhen and Serie A MVP Kvaratskhelia.
