Arteta has set an ambitious target for the Gunners that would surpass the Invincibles’ achievement of 90 points. With Arsenal currently holding 33 points, reports from the Daily Mirror indicate that they can afford to lose just three more games to meet Arteta’s goal of reaching between 96 and 100 points. While winning all their remaining matches might seem far-fetched, it would propel them to an impressive 105 points, surpassing City’s 2017/18 record of 100 points with only two losses.

At present, Arsenal leads the Premier League table by two points over Liverpool, having suffered just one defeat this season against Newcastle. Meanwhile, last season’s champions, City, sit third with 30 points after a series of draws and two losses.

Arteta explained to reporters, “Do I have a target? Yes. 96-100 I think you win the league. That is the cushion.” When asked about City’s recent form slump, he emphasized that his focus lies in his team’s performance, stating, “Do I take encouragment from that? No. The encouragement comes from watching the team play, watching them behave every day and how hungry and willing they are to approach every training session. That’s what gives me encouragement. What the others do is something that we cannot control.”

However, to maintain a three-loss limit, Arsenal faces a challenging upcoming schedule, meeting Aston Villa and Liverpool, both top-four teams, along with tough clashes against Brighton and West Ham before the year ends.
