Former Manchester United icon Gary Neville has revealed his reluctance to continue working on matches involving his former club. After the Red Devils suffered their 10th defeat of the season, a 1-0 loss to Newcastle over the weekend, Neville, who spent his entire playing career with the team, expressed weariness with their struggling performances.

Following their sixth league defeat and 10th overall across all competitions under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United faces a critical month that could define their season, with upcoming clashes against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich.

On ‘The Gary Neville Podcast,’ the 48-year-old did not hold back in expressing his disappointment with the team’s recent showings. Although Neville often serves as a pundit or co-commentator for United games, his enthusiasm to watch the matches has diminished. He remarked, “It’s well below par, it’s really disappointing,”

Neville acknowledged a growing sentiment that questions the manager’s position, stating, “I feel like we’re in a cycle of the noise against the manager is starting to occur.” He emphasized the need for a change, either in players or management, and admitted feeling “bored” with the repetitive cycle the club seems to be stuck in. “I’ve become tired of my own club”. he said, expressing his reluctance to watch or cover their games any longer.

The former England international highlighted the broader sentiment among fans, stating, “That is the saddest indictment that you can have of your football club, when you become bored of watching them, when you become tired of watching them. And it’s not just me, a couple of people in the last couple of weeks [have said] ‘enough’s enough’.”

As Manchester United prepares to face Chelsea at Old Trafford on Wednesday (December 6), Neville’s sentiments likely resonate with many fans amid what has been a disappointing campaign for the 13-time Premier League champions.
