Erik ten Hag’s strict managerial style reportedly resulted in losing the support of approximately half of Manchester United’s squad. The team suffered another significant loss over the weekend against Newcastle, highlighting the coach’s strained relationship with Jadon Sancho, who has been sidelined since September and seems likely to depart in January.

United’s struggles in the Premier League and the looming risk of an early Champions League exit have led several players to feel disillusioned with Ten Hag’s direct coaching methods, as per insights shared by Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

Solhekol indicated, “My information, for what it’s worth, is that some players are confused about what is happening,” He highlighted that “He has lost elements of the dressing room, one source telling me that he’s lost about 50% of the dressing room. Quite a few players are unhappy with the style of play. They also feel they are running too hard and they’re running too much during training.”

Furthermore, Solhekol mentioned that players expressed concerns to Erik ten Hag regarding the club’s shortcomings and drew on their experiences from playing at other prominent clubs. Some players suggested a need for more empathetic management and a less rigid approach from Ten Hag.

However, despite feedback from players, Ten Hag remains resolute in his methods. Solhekol added, “I’ve also been told that a few of the players believe that he is too set in his ways, he’s too robotic and, as we’ve spoken about before, quite a few of the players are unhappy with the way Jadon Sancho has been treated.”
