Federico Gatti’s late heroics propel Juventus to the summit of Serie A

Juventus clinched a crucial 2-1 victory against Monza, marking their first league win against the Brianza squad in three encounters. The Bianconeri, driven by previous defeats to the underdogs last season, were determined to secure this win. Following a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan, Juventus faced a Monza side that had maintained an unbeaten home record in the league.

Starting with intent, Juventus earned an early penalty, which Dusan Vlahovic unfortunately failed to convert in the 11th minute. However, their persistence paid off as Adrien Rabiot netted from the subsequent corner just a minute later.

Despite Monza’s impressive season, the first-half ended without an equalizer. Raffaele Palladino’s side continued to dominate possession after the break.

Juventus adopted a defensive stance, anticipating a chance for a counter-attack. Yet, it was Monza who found the net next. Valentin Carboni’s strike in added time initially seemed to secure a point against Juventus. However, Federico Gatti had different plans, swiftly reinstating Juventus’ lead three minutes later, courtesy of Rabiot’s excellent play.

This victory places Juventus at the top of the league, at least until Inter Milan’s upcoming fixture. Max Allegri also welcomes the return of Danilo, adding to the team’s prospects moving forward.
