French defender Theo Hernandez secured AC Milan’s 1-0 victory over Fiorentina at home on Saturday with a first-half penalty, marking their initial win in five Serie A matches.

Breaking the deadlock from the penalty spot during first-half stoppage time, Hernandez capitalized on a late challenge from Fabiano Parisi.

Notably, Milan’s Francesco Camarda made history by becoming the youngest debutant in a Serie A match at 15 years, eight months, and 16 days old, coming on as a substitute for Luka Jovic in the closing moments.

Milan’s 58-year-old manager Stefano Pioli expressed his admiration for Camarda’s performance, highlighting his youthfulness and maturity. Pioli jokingly mentioned, “I could be his grandfather,” expressing his delight for the young player on Sky Sports Italia.

With 26 points, Milan currently holds the third position in the table, trailing five points behind Inter Milan, who leads. Fiorentina sits in the sixth spot with 20 points.

Pioli acknowledged the team’s progress after a lackluster run, emphasizing their mental strength in securing points despite facing challenges during the match. He expressed confidence that consistent results would allow them to return to their signature style of football.

During the game, Christian Pulisic tested Fiorentina’s goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano with a strike from the edge of the area, forcing a remarkable save. Meanwhile, Tommaso Pobega’s header narrowly missed putting Milan in the lead before halftime, with Terracciano managing to deflect it.

Fiorentina came close to equalizing around the hour mark when Nico Gonzalez’s cross deflected off a Milan defender and grazed the far post.

While Milan’s Jovic attempted to extend the lead, his shot was blocked by the outstretched boot of Fiorentina’s keeper.

In a tense moment deep into stoppage time, Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved a close-range shot from Rolando Mandragora with his face.

Milan’s upcoming matches include a UEFA Champions League fixture against Borussia Dortmund at home on Tuesday, followed by hosting Frosinone in Serie A the following Saturday.
