Antoine Griezmann Slams Uefa Over Lack Of Goal Line Technology In France Vs. Greece Draw

In the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Greece, France faced disappointment as they were held to a 2-2 draw. Post-game, French midfielder Antoine Griezmann criticized UEFA for the absence of goal-line technology, particularly after a contentious decision that denied France a late victory.

France’s Koeman scored from Fofana’s pass, and a late attempt to secure a win was controversially ruled out by the referee, who deemed the ball had not crossed the line before hitting the post. Replays, however, clearly showed the ball crossing the goal line.

Expressing his frustration, Griezmann, acting as captain in the absence of Kylian Mbappe, directly targeted UEFA, urging the organization to implement more technology in football competitions. He questioned UEFA’s financial capabilities, stating, “What we’re missing is goal-line technology. UEFA has a lot of money, but they can’t put things on the pitch that can accurately determine whether or not a goal is scored in a match.”

Griezmann called for a reevaluation of the use of technology in matches, especially in situations that could significantly impact game outcomes. The criticism comes as players and fans continue to advocate for more advanced technological aids to assist match officials.
