Six years ago, the Brazilian made headlines with his move from Barcelona for a staggering €222 million (£193m/$242m) – a record-breaking fee that remains untouched to this day. Despite clinching numerous domestic victories, Neymar’s tenure in Paris is widely regarded as lackluster, chiefly due to his inability to secure European success. A significant factor contributing to this disappointment was his persistent battle with injuries, starting from the moment he arrived in the French capital.

A startling new report by L’Equipe reveals that upon his arrival at the Parc des Princes, the Brazilian star was already grappling with an ankle stress fracture, specifically affecting the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. Neymar subsequently endured this identical fracture twice during his tenure at PSG – first in February 2018 and then again in January 2019 – before undergoing ankle surgery last March due to complications during the 2022 World Cup.

Throughout his injury-plagued six seasons at PSG, Neymar participated in 173 matches, scoring 118 goals and providing 77 assists across various competitions. However, he missed over 100 games due to injuries and faced discontent from supporters towards the conclusion of his stint in Paris.

Presently, the Brazilian finds himself sidelined once again, this time due to a different injury. Merely five matches into his signing with Saudi side Al-Hilal last summer, Neymar suffered an ACL rupture while on international duty with Brazil. He has since undergone surgery, with a timeline for his return not anticipated for several months.
