As per Sport reports, Modric plans to depart from Real Madrid once his contract concludes this season. Following a lucrative £120 million per season offer from a Saudi club over the summer, the 38-year-old declined, signalling an impending retirement in the Saudi Pro League.
Last season, Modric committed to a one-year contract, driven by his belief in his ability to contribute significantly at the highest level. However, his role has diminished significantly this term, starting only five of Madrid’s 17 matches across all competitions. The rise of Jude Bellingham as a central figure in midfield and attack has shifted the dynamics. After an illustrious 12-year tenure at Bernabeu, Modric seems prepared for a new chapter.
Real Madrid’s general director, Jose Angel Sanchez, has dismissed any prospects of Modric leaving in January, affirming, “We have no open negotiations with the Saudi Arabian League for a possible departure in January nor any intention to sell him [Modric] at this time.”
Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad from the Saudi Pro League are the clubs associated with Modric. Joining Al-Ittihad would reunite him with former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. However, before any potential move, Modric remains focused on aiding Madrid’s pursuit to reclaim La Liga and Champions League titles.
This season he played in total 11 times for 436 minutes for La Liga.
Luka Modric didn’t score any goal for Real Madrid. He procured one assist. He received 1 yellow card and no red cards.
