“I think he [Rashford] is probably okay. We just thought given the nature of the collision it was a chance to get Cole into the game. I haven’t assessed too much but I think he was okay when he came off,” Southgate mentioned after the 2-0 win, acknowledging the team’s slow start and emphasizing the players’ workload.

Southgate’s positive outlook regarding Rashford’s injury will likely relieve Erik ten Hag, who’s grappling with a substantial injury crisis, missing key players like Rasmus Hojlund, Christian Eriksen, and others. Ten Hag commended his squad’s resilience amidst the challenges, recognizing the impact of injuries on the team’s rhythm but remaining optimistic about the squad’s potential.

Despite the setbacks, Ten Hag highlighted the team’s position near the top four and expressed optimism for improvement in performances, believing that as the team settles and injuries heal, they can progress and gather more points in the future.
