The team marked their most triumphant season to date last summer, securing a historic treble under Pep Guardiola, highlighted by their inaugural Champions League victory in June. City recently announced that this on-field success was complemented by impressive financial achievements. The disclosed revenue figures signify a substantial increase of £99.8 million ($124 million) compared to the previous year, surpassing the former record of £648 million ($808 million) set by Manchester United the prior month.

The club’s accomplishments in England extended beyond revenue records. The 2022-23 season witnessed a record-breaking profit of £80.4 million ($100 million) in the Premier League, establishing a new high for both the club and the league, compared to last year’s £41.7 million ($52 million). Additionally, City’s wage bill experienced a significant surge, reaching an unprecedented £423 million ($527 million) from £70 million ($87.3 million), attributed in part to the arrival of star striker Erling Haaland, marking the highest amount in the history of English football.

Expressing his thoughts, club chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak stated in a release, “In the aftermath of the Champions League win in Turkey and the completion of ‘The Treble’ the question I was asked most often, was ‘How do you top that?’. The answer is by doubling down on the proven philosophies and practices that have brought us this success and to challenge ourselves to continue to constantly innovate in order to achieve new levels of performance, on and off the field.”

“We will continue to question all the industry norms, evaluate our successes and learn from any failures. Success today simply means further investment for tomorrow. Our financial health and on-field success mean everyone connected to Manchester City can look forward to the future with excitement. Our collective achievements give me huge confidence that together we can accomplish even more in the years to come.”

“Of course, the club are still being investigated over multiple breaches of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules. This aspect is alluded to in the latest report, which refers to ” a number of risks and uncertainties which could have a material impact on the club’s performance.” City, however, maintain their innocence, refuting any wrongdoing despite the 115 charges issued against them in February.
