Having severed ties with the former head of Tottenham Hotspur, Nuno Espirito Santo, due to a string of poor performances and purported conflicts with Benzema, the reigning champions are reportedly turning to the ex-Spain and Real Madrid manager, according to information from Ben Jacobs.

Before resigning during the summer, the Spanish coach oversaw Wolverhampton Wanderers in the previous season in the Premier League, successfully steering them clear of relegation.

Despite parting ways with Wolves earlier this year, Lopetegui has continued to reside in England. While initially keen on a return to the Premier League, he is now on the verge of joining the Saudi Pro League club.

With Al-Ittihad slated to resume action on November 25 following the international break, the Spaniard will have a window of time to shape the team.
