Gerard Pique has spoken openly for the first time about his contentious separation from Shakira and the subsequent public scrutiny.
The 36-year-old football icon from Barcelona and Spain was in a relationship with the Colombian singer-songwriter from 2011 to 2022, and the couple shares two sons born in 2013 and 2015.

He stated, “If I had given importance to what they say about me now I would be locked in an apartment or I would have thrown myself off the sixth floor.”
“The only way to get out of all this alive is to ignore it. I can’t go out every day to deny things that aren’t real.”
“I don’t want to talk about it and I won’t talk about it, but of everything that has happened, people don’t know even 10 per cent of what happened.”
Adding an intriguing twist to the narrative, Pique’s aversion to strawberry jam inadvertently brought attention to allegations of infidelity.
Reports surfaced that Shakira discovered evidence of someone else’s presence in their shared home when she found an empty jam jar upon returning from her travels. Pique and their children reportedly do not consume jam, implying the involvement of an unknown person.
