Liverpool’s January transfer plans have received a significant boost, as Fluminense’s president openly acknowledges that Reds target Andre Trindade is likely to depart the club.

Andre, who has been a standout performer for the Brazilian giants, has made 53 appearances this season and played a crucial role in their recent Copa Libertadores triumph.

His impressive displays have earned him a regular spot in the Brazilian national team, with the 22-year-old receiving two caps for the Selecao.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has shown a keen interest in Andre, especially as he is in the process of reshaping his midfield following several departures during the summer.

Notable players like James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left Anfield during that transfer window.

Klopp brought in new midfield talents, such as Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Despite their successful season so far, Klopp remains eager to enhance his options in the midfield area.

This renewed interest in Andre follows Liverpool’s prior inquiries about the Brazilian during the summer transfer window, which were rejected by Fluminense.

However, club president Mario Bittencourt has now admitted that he expects to part ways with the 22-year-old in January, stating, “We are waiting. Today, there is no concrete proposal for Andre.”

“But we are sure that after the Club World Cup – he will play in the World Cup – a stratospheric proposal will arrive.”

“It could be the biggest sale in the club’s history. We could possibly lose both (Andre and defender Nino), but we are working to replace them.”

Furthermore, Andre’s agent, Carlos Leite, shed light on discussions with Bittencourt earlier in the year, confirming that an agreement is in place for the midfielder to leave during the winter transfer window if a suitable offer materializes.

Leite explained, “He came to me and said that Fluminense had no interest in selling André this year”

“I talked to the player, explained it to him, and he bought the idea. We agreed that it would only be traded from January 2024 onwards.”

“There were actually several proposals (in the summer), all of which came to me I forwarded to Mario, but aware that there would be no negotiation. Unless Fluminense changed its mind. He had no reason to sit with me, he is not obliged to sell anyone. But he had this concern.”

As the speculation around Andre’s potential departure intensifies, he remains focused on his upcoming match with Internacional. Meanwhile, Liverpool is preparing for their return to Europa League action against Toulouse on Thursday.
