Arsenal’s U18s match against Brighton took an amusing twist as the team inadvertently delayed the kickoff due to a motorway mishap. Originally slated for a 12pm start at the Amex Stadium on a Saturday, the match encountered a 30-minute delay when the Gunners failed to arrive on time.

Reports indicated that they had mistakenly journeyed to Bournemouth, a staggering 95 miles off course, resulting in the postponement of the game.

However, according to The Mirror, the team’s bus took a wrong turn on the M25, and by the time the error was rectified, they were nearly two hours away from Brighton.

Social media was abuzz with fans finding humor in the situation. One user questioned, “Who is the driver? Was he drunk?” Another pondered, “How does this happen in this day and age?” A third user joked, “Hahaha the driver literally had one job. He’s finito,” while a fourth quipped, “Should’ve gone to Specsavers.”

Arsenal had aimed to extend their unbeaten streak in all competitions to four matches. Managed by Arsenal legend Jack Wilshere, the team currently holds the seventh position in the U18 Premier League, with three victories in their first eight matches of the season.

Wilshere assumed leadership of the team shortly after retiring from professional football in 2022. In his debut season as manager, he guided the team to the final of the 2022/23 FA Youth Cup, although they suffered a defeat against West Ham.

While the Gunners’ U18s squad has never claimed the U18 Premier League title since its establishment in 2012, they boast an impressive record in the FA Youth Cup, having clinched the trophy seven times (only Manchester United and Chelsea have more titles).
