Manchester United’s challenging start to the season has compelled Erik ten Hag to initiate one-on-one sessions with his players, aiming to steer their season back on course.

The Dutch manager has encountered difficulties in building upon his initial success at Old Trafford, with his team currently occupying the eighth position in the Premier League after suffering five losses in ten matches. A disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle on November 1st eliminated United from the Carabao Cup, diminishing their prospects of claiming silverware this season.

In response to this setback, Ten Hag has instructed his players to engage in individual meetings, as reported by The Sun, in the hope that these sessions will mark a fresh start for the team, particularly as they approach a crucial series of fixtures. The 53-year-old coach is keen to address any potential issues that might exist between his players and himself, his coaching staff, their fellow teammates, and their training routines.

Scott McTominay, the leading goal scorer for Manchester United in the league with three goals, publicly voiced his support for Ten Hag while expressing empathy for the club’s fans, who have endured a challenging season so far.

“My thoughts are with the fans because we’re not playing well and it’s difficult for them,” the 26-year-old remarked. ” They pay their hard-earned money every week to watch us and the least we can do is play well and win matches. We have to stay tight and keep a clear head. We can’t get too emotional. We have to block it all out. Everyone has to come together and we have to fight like dogs.”

McTominay remained optimistic about his and his teammates’ ability to reverse their disappointing form, stating, “The fans want to see results and performances and to see the players smiling and happy, he added. “It’s not happening at the moment, but I’m 100 per cent sure the manager can put that into practice and it can come off.”

The pressure on Ten Hag is mounting as his next three matches across all competitions against Fulham, Copenhagen, and Luton Town could determine his future at Old Trafford.
