Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey will miss the next Premier League game against Sheffield United. Jesus, the Brazilian striker, sustained a muscle injury during the Champions League victory over Sevilla. Arteta revealed, “Scans show a muscle injury; we might miss him for a few weeks.”

When asked about Jesus’s return date, Arteta quipped, “With Gabi, I cannot give you a timeframe; he always surprises us.” He emphasized that Jesus had a demanding schedule, playing for both the national team and Arsenal after a long hiatus, making the injury a setback.

Partey, who suffered a thigh injury in training before the Sevilla game, is also expected to be sidelined for several weeks. Arteta said, “He’s got a muscle injury, and we expect him to be out for a few weeks,” with further tests to assess the extent of the injury.

Arteta dismissed the notion that Partey’s injury resulted from his international duty with Ghana. He acknowledged the challenges of managing players within a congested fixture schedule, balancing rest and match fitness.

With Jesus and Partey joining Jurrien Timber on the injury list, Arsenal faces upcoming matches against Sheffield, Newcastle United, Burnley, West Ham in the Carabao Cup, and Sevilla in the Champions League without their contributions.
