Austrian ex-footballer Mario Mosbock recently transitioned to poker and won an impressive £220,000 in an online tournament. He started his football career with SKN St. Pölten, playing for the reserve team from 2014 to 2017 and briefly for the senior side. However, he retired from football at the age of 21.

Mosbock’s passion for poker began at age 12, and by 14, he had already won £23,000. Despite his early poker success, he continued pursuing football. By the time he turned 20, he realized he no longer loved football and decided to quit.

In a recent interview, he expressed his decision to leave football, saying he no longer enjoyed daily training and didn’t want to commit another 15 years to the sport. Mosbock’s decision to embrace poker has paid off handsomely, with winnings totaling over a million pounds.

Mosbock explained, “I stopped enjoying daily training and no longer felt that football is what I want to do.” He gave up the sport to explore his true passion. His decision paid off as he’s now earned over a million pounds from poker, showing that sometimes a career change can lead to greater success.
