Jurgen Klopp offered a heartfelt tribute to the prolific goal-scorer, Mohamed Salah, who reached a remarkable milestone of 200 career league goals with a brilliant double that secured a victory against Everton.

Despite having a somewhat off day during the Merseyside derby, Liverpool’s star striker came through in the end with two decisive goals that temporarily propelled his team to the top of the league standings.

Klopp praised Salah’s unique ability to deliver even when he’s not at his best, emphasizing his admiration for the numbers Salah consistently produces. With a smile, the Liverpool manager expressed, “Look, what I love most about Mo is… well, maybe mostly I love the numbers!”

He continued, “But look, I think that Mo Salah played for us an incredible amount of fantastic games. It was not his best game but then [still] being that clinical with the penalty and then staying in the situation, that’s probably his biggest quality, and I love that.”

Salah currently leads the Premier League this season in terms of goal contributions, boasting seven goals and four assists. Klopp highlighted Salah’s astonishing capacity to maintain a goal-scoring rhythm throughout his seven-season tenure at Anfield, labeling it as “insane.”

“We need someone who can bring the ball over the line, and Mo was that again. I couldn’t respect that fact more. It’s absolutely outstanding, the numbers are crazy. He will never stop, that is his nature and that’s really cool for us.”

During the match, Liverpool faced difficulties in breaking down Everton’s solid defence, even though Ashley Young received two yellow cards in the first half for fouls on Luis Diaz. Salah was relatively contained by Vitaliy Mykolenko but ultimately broke the deadlock by converting a penalty after Michael Keane was deemed to have handled Diaz’s cross.

The Egyptian star sealed Liverpool’s victory by calmly slotting home a close-range shot after a swift counterattack initiated by Darwin Nunez.

Klopp reflected on the significance of not getting frustrated in the second half due to the inability to score earlier in the game, stating, “What was really important today [was] that we didn’t get frustrated in the second half with the fact that we didn’t score already.”

“I’m not happy that we are ‘back on track’ or whatever, I’m happy we won the game. Yeah, and 20 points, that’s what we wanted and that’s what we have now, so that’s absolutely great. Now Thursday, different competition, super-important as well, another home game, fantastic. And from there we go, that’s the situation.”
