Former Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has embarked on a new chapter in his career, transitioning into the world of music. Known for his iconic playing style and enigmatic personality during his time with the Red Devils, Cantona initially ventured into acting after retiring from football at the age of 30.

Now, 26 years later, he is taking a leap into the music industry.

The legendary footballer has unveiled his debut EP titled ‘I’ll Make My Own Heaven’ and is ready to embark on his inaugural live tour, as reported by the Mirror.

Cantona’s EP features a diverse collection of songs in both English and French, showcasing the broad spectrum of his musical influences.

The tracklist includes ‘The Friends We Lost,’ ‘Tu Me Diras,’ ‘I’ll Make My Own Heaven,’ and ‘Je Veux.’

While Cantona has made guest appearances in the music scene before, this marks his first independent endeavor as a musician.

In a recent interview, Cantona expressed his deep passion for music, emphasizing how it has always been an integral part of his life.

He explained, “Writing is a way for me to exist, as only my existence can result in writing this way.’

“Music has always been a part of my life. I’ve always had music playing. Why start today, so many years later?”

“Simply because I had lacked the time before. During lockdown, I finally managed to give the guitar a serious go, and even though I’m still a poor guitarist, I felt confident enough to whip a few songs into shape.”

For his upcoming live performances, Cantona will be joined by a small band, adding, “Next year, I’ll be playing with a band, but for now I’m starting with a modest piano and cello to play alongside me in intimate venues. I’ll be starting in Manchester, because it’s a city that has stayed with me so much. For the football of course, but also the general atmosphere.”

Apart from his musical pursuits, Cantona has explored various artistic avenues, including acting, poetry, and photography.

However, he will forever be remembered for his illustrious football career. During his tenures with Manchester United and Leeds United, Cantona clinched five English league titles and left an enduring legacy in European football.

Cantona’s surprising decision to retire from football at the height of his career raised eyebrows, but he has no regrets. He firmly believes that if he loses his passion and fervour for the game, he should explore other creative paths.

Since hanging up his boots, Cantona has graced the silver screen with roles in movies like “Elizabeth,” “French Film,” and “Looking for Eric,” demonstrating his talent in front of the camera.

As fans eagerly anticipate Cantona’s musical performances, it’s evident that his artistic journey continues to evolve. Whether on the pitch, in film, or now on stage, Cantona’s distinctive charisma and creativity shine through, cementing his status as an iconic figure in the worlds of sports and entertainment.
