David Beckham left documentary director Fisher Stevens completely astonished by the revelations from his life. Fisher described the soccer legend’s life as “extraordinary.”

In an interview with People magazine, Fisher expressed how candid and willing Beckham was to share his story. Fisher noted, “He wasn’t what I expected at all.”

“He was so open. He’s like, ‘I’m ready. I want to tell my story before someone else does.”

Continuing, he remarked, “And then I started doing research, and I was like, ‘Jesus, this guy’s life is nuts. Nuts.’ I had no idea,”

David Beckham himself recently shared insights into the process of creating the documentary, which spanned several years.

According to People magazine, he mentioned, “It was a series that took me a while to come to terms with filming and talking about my life,”

Furthermore, Beckham explained why he had not embarked on this documentary journey earlier, stating, “And ten years ago, when I retired from playing soccer, people asked me to do it. And I wasn’t really ready to look back and talk about my career and my life.”
