Diogo Dalot, the full-back from Manchester United, playfully poked fun at his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo while the two are currently on international duty with the Portuguese national team.

In November 2022, Ronaldo, who now plays for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, created a significant stir with an interview conducted by Piers Morgan. This interview ultimately led to his second departure from Manchester United. In the interview, the legendary forward launched a scathing critique of the club and Erik ten Hag, among other things.

One of the issues Ronaldo raised during the lengthy interview was his frustration with younger teammates who seem easily distracted by their phones. Ronaldo stated, “Their hunger [is different]. I think they have things more easily, everything’s easy, they don’t suffer – and they don’t care.”

He went on to say, “I don’t mean only a few in Manchester United, but all the teams in all leagues in the world, the youngsters are not the same of my generation. But you cannot blame them, because it’s part of the life and the new generation, the new technologies that distract them.”

Evidently, one person who took exception to Ronaldo’s comments was Diogo Dalot, who is 14 years younger than the Portuguese legend. In a light-hearted Instagram story, the Manchester United defender gently teased his compatriot about his views on “technologies.”

On Instagram, Dalot shared a story of himself sitting next to Ronaldo while on international duty. Unfortunately for Ronaldo, he was caught using his phone in the photo. Dalot added the caption, “This new generation always on the phone” and tagged Ronaldo in the post.

During the October international break, Portugal is scheduled to face Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in consecutive Euro 2024 qualifiers. Currently, Ronaldo and his team are in excellent international form, having won all six of their Group J qualifiers.

They have also scored an impressive 24 goals and have not conceded any. Moreover, there’s a possibility that we may see Ronaldo at another major international tournament, as reports suggest he aspires to participate in the 2026 World Cup.

If he achieves this, he will be 41 years old at the time of the tournament and will become the first player to compete in six World Cups.
