Kevin-Prince Boateng has shared an interesting anecdote about a conversation he had with Lionel Messi. During their time together at Barcelona, Messi approached Boateng and asked an intriguing question about his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
After competing head-to-head in La Liga for nine years, Ronaldo made a significant move from Real Madrid to Juventus in Italy in 2018. Messi seemed curious about how Ronaldo was performing in his new Serie A adventure, particularly in terms of scoring goals.
Boateng, in an interview with FIVE’s Youtube Channel, revealed that Messi, despite being the team captain, was not very talkative. However, they had a brief conversation in the shower, where Messi inquired about the level of difficulty in scoring goals in Italy, given Ronaldo’s presence there and the rivalry between them.
Boateng recalled saying, “I told him that it was more difficult that Ronaldo was there, and he scored every game for three years. People forget too easily what he’s done there.”
Ronaldo went on to score 101 goals in 134 appearances for Juventus before making a return to Manchester United in 2021. Messi, on the other hand, has continued his goal-scoring prowess and is currently excelling with Inter Miami in the United States, having netted 11 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions.
