Unusual Events Unfold in Ligue 1 as FC Nantes’ Mascot, Riri, Requires Medical Attention During Match Against Rival Stade Rennes

In a rather peculiar turn of events during a recent Ligue 1 match, FC Nantes’ mascot, Riri, found themselves stretchered off the field after an incident involving their counterpart from Stade Rennes, Erminig, the white ermine.

During an enthusiastic interaction between both mascots aimed at exciting the crowd, Erminig unexpectedly collided with Riri, sending the yellow canary mascot tumbling to the ground, even causing its head to detach and roll away in the opposite direction.

Surprisingly, when the cameras returned their focus to Riri, they had miraculously reattached their head. Nevertheless, paramedics were on hand to provide medical assistance to Riri, who was eventually placed on a stretcher and carefully escorted off the field by a team of healthcare professionals.

Some fans couldn’t resist making light of the situation, with one humorously noting, “Replacing the mascot’s head pre-stretcher is key here,” while another quipped, “The mascot literally lost his head when he was rugby tackled & they put it back on his head for him being stretchered off. Can’t have the magic ruined for the kids!”

As one fan succinctly put it, “Everything happens in Ligue 1. What a league,” Another added, “Protect French football at ALL costs.”

Adding insult to injury, Nantes suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Rennes in this encounter. Consequently, Rennes climbed to sixth place in the standings, whereas Nantes plummeted to 13th place, with only two points separating them from the relegation zone.

However, the more pressing storyline in French football unfolds at the bottom of Ligue 1, where European giants Lyon find themselves with a mere two points. Sporting a staggering goal difference of -10, Lyon is yet to secure a victory this season.
