Roberto Mancini’s departure from Italy triggers potential lawsuit from Italian Football Federation as he takes up Saudi Arabia role

According to rumours, the leaders of the Italian Football Federation are thinking about taking former manager Roberto Mancini to court.

Roberto Mancini Can Face Law Suit From Italian Football Federations

The 58-year-old resigned from his position as the head coach of Italy on August 13 after serving for five years.

Merely two weeks later, he accepted a highly lucrative four-year contract to assume the role of manager for the Saudi Arabia national team.

Mancini’s contract is reported to have an astonishing annual value of £21.5 million after taxes.

Gabriele Gravina, the president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), has confirmed that their organization is seeking legal counsel to address this situation.

The FIGC is currently exploring the possibility of filing a lawsuit to seek compensation for the abrupt departure of Mancini from his managerial role.

During last year’s World Cup, Saudi Arabia was under the leadership of Herve Renard, but the Frenchman stepped down in March to join the women’s national team of his own country.

Mancini assumed the role of Saudi Arabia’s head coach earlier this month and oversaw their matches, resulting in a 3-1 loss to Costa Rica and a 1-0 defeat against South Korea.

It’s worth noting that Mancini did not engage with the media after either of these matches, a decision reportedly influenced by the Saudi government, according to Sky Sports.

As a result of his departure, the former manager of Manchester City has been succeeded by Luciano Spalletti as the new head coach of the Italian national team.

Mancini was the mastermind behind Italy’s triumph at Euro 2020 and achieved an incredible, record-breaking 37-game unbeaten streak.

Remarkably, the Azzurri’s success was followed by their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
