During a Mexican football match, a daring dog stole the spotlight by outsmarting both the security personnel and the players. This amusing incident occurred during a Liga de Expansion MX clash between Alebrijes Oaxaca and Dorados, with Alebrijes Oaxaca leading 4-0 on Wednesday, September 27.

In a scene reminiscent of a classic comedy film, this playful pup made a grand entrance onto the field at the end of regular time. Its singular focus was on the soccer ball, which had just been retrieved from a cross by Dorados’ substitute goalkeeper, Hernan Mendoza. Wisely, Mendoza let go of the ball, and after a brief dribble, the ball was under the dog’s control.

A well-meaning but hapless steward attempted to restrain the dog with a piece of rope, but his efforts proved futile, leading to a comical chase across the field. Despite the amusing spectacle unfolding, the ever-professional fourth official calmly displayed his board to signal three minutes of added time.

By this point, two more staff members joined the pursuit of the four-legged intruder. However, the dog effortlessly outwitted them all, gleefully sprinting with the ball clenched in its teeth. It even slowed down at times, enticing its pursuers before suddenly accelerating and leaving them behind.

To add to the hilarity, the commentators started a chant of “Ole,” adding a touch of mockery to the situation. The dog had both the fans in the stadium and those watching at home in stitches.

One fan remarked, “Hahaha what a genius the dog is.” A Guadalajara supporter quipped, “Better driving with the ball than everything @Chivas.” Another person commented, “Massively rate the fourth official just sticking up the three added minutes while the ball is literally being carried away in a dog’s mouth.”

“I thought he was signalling for the dog to be subbed off for a second there,” added another, while a fifth person humorously noted, “When you think you’ve seen everything in football, there’s always something that surprises us.”

Finally, a security guard with a clear head used another ball to coax the dog towards the tunnel, allowing the game to resume. Oaxaca’s social media team later joked that they would adopt the dog, but Dorados were in greater need of a turnaround after losing their last five games.
