Napoli’s Forward, Victor Osimhen, is considering the option of pursuing legal action against his own club following the posting of a peculiar TikTok video that appeared to mock him. The video, which has since been removed, featured a sped-up voiceover accompanying a clip of Osimhen’s missed penalty during their recent 0-0 draw against Bologna.
Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, expressed his discontent on X, previously known as Twitter, stating, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.”
“A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.”
Calenda further emphasized, “We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
During the game against Bologna, there seemed to be tension between Osimhen and Napoli’s manager, Rudi Garcia. The 24-year-old Nigerian striker was visibly displeased and exchanged words with Garcia as he was substituted with only four minutes remaining in the goalless draw. Garcia downplayed the incident.
Last season, Osimhen played a pivotal role in helping Napoli secure their first league title in three decades, contributing with 26 goals in Serie A and 31 across all competitions. He was previously linked with a summer transfer and did not extend his contract, which is set to expire in 2025.
