Arturo Vidal has made some unusual comments while criticizing Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, especially focusing on his bald head. Vidal, known for his time at Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona, shared his thoughts on the former Ajax coach online.

The 36-year-old midfielder, who transferred from Flamengo to Athletico Paranaense in the summer, expressed particular discontent with how Cristiano Ronaldo was handled.

During a live stream, Vidal commented on Ten Hag’s appointment at Manchester United, saying, “That coach came in badly. How are you going to take out Cristiano Ronaldo?” He went on to say, “That’s how these guys are. He was the top scorer and he takes him out. The bald guys are very complicated.”

Vidal’s perspective on bald managers might be influenced by his time at Flamengo under his former Chilean boss, Jorge Sampaoli, whom he referred to as unsuccessful upon his departure.

Ironically, Ten Hag had hair during his playing days back in 1996 but had shaved his head long before starting his coaching career in 2011. It’s worth noting that Vidal himself shaves large portions of his head completely bald, leaving a thin mohawk that he dyes blonde.

Upon his arrival at Old Trafford, Ten Hag decided to relegate Ronaldo to the bench and eventually allowed the veteran former Real Madrid star to terminate his contract and join Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Vidal played 171 matches for Juventus between 2011 and 2015 but missed the opportunity to have Ronaldo as a teammate. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner joined Juventus in 2018, winning two Serie A titles in three seasons while scoring 101 goals in 134 matches.

Fortunately for Vidal, his current interim manager at Paranaense, Wesley Carvalho, and Chile’s national team manager, Eduardo Berizzo, both have a full head of hair.

Vidal might have crossed paths with Ten Hag if he had agreed to move to Manchester United back in 2019 when Ed Woodward had identified him as a potential signing.

Ten Hag’s Manchester United secured a much-needed victory over Burnley, which served as a boost for the Dutchman after defeats to Arsenal, Brighton, and Bayern Munich.
