Triple H is reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, into the world of WWE later this year.

For over five years, WWE has been collaborating with the Saudi Arabian government to host professional wrestling events in the Middle East. Their inaugural Premium Live Event, the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble,’ was designed to captivate audiences with its feature attraction match, drawing maximum attention to the show.

Recent reports indicate that WWE is keen on featuring Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, in their upcoming event, Crown Jewel, scheduled for November. This marks a shift from WWE’s earlier Saudi shows, which predominantly showcased wrestling legends and blockbuster matchups during their initial events. These shows included a 2018 clash where John Cena defeated Triple H and a memorable, albeit tumultuous, showdown between The Undertaker and Goldberg.

Presently, WWE’s approach to the Middle East leans more towards narrative-driven storytelling and aligns with ongoing storylines within the company. Last year’s November event featured YouTuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul facing off against Roman Reigns in the main event for the Undisputed Universal Title. Additionally, it continued key rivalries from WWE’s Raw and SmackDown brands.

The previous Crown Jewel event witnessed significant moments, including a title change in the Women’s Tag Team Championships, a thrilling steel cage match, and a bout between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. These lineups closely resembled WWE’s US-based Premium Live Events and blended well with the inclusion of legends and mainstream celebrities like Logan Paul.

Treating the Saudi events like regular pay-per-views, while also incorporating celebrities such as Paul, ensures consistency for WWE’s regular viewers and attracts mainstream audiences familiar with these names.

In light of Saudi Arabia’s growing prominence in sports, reports from Diario AS suggest that WWE’s higher-ups are actively pursuing Ronaldo’s attendance at their upcoming November show in the country. Whether a deal will materialize to feature the five-time Ballon D’Or winner remains uncertain. However, given Ronaldo’s status as an active player for Al-Nassr and an ambassador for the nation, it wouldn’t be surprising to see CR7 utilized to promote the land he now calls home when WWE visits Saudi Arabia again.

It’s worth noting that this summer’s transfer window witnessed several top-tier footballers and managers making moves to the Saudi Arabian league. Cristiano Ronaldo, as the first marquee player to join a Pro League team, holds a special place in this landscape.
