A daring Newcastle fan added excitement to the Magpies’ Milan adventure when he decided to take a spontaneous dip in a canal and challenge local rowers to a race. With the sun shining and fellow supporters cheering him on, the enthusiastic fan stripped down to his boxers before making the bold move.
Beside the famous Lombardy canal, the Newcastle faithful had gathered in anticipation of their club’s contest against AC Milan at the San Siro. The fan’s challenge to a four-man rowing boat, however, ended in good-natured failure, much to the amusement of onlookers.
Despite this light-hearted incident, the atmosphere among fans had been jubilant as they relished their return to top-flight European football. Newcastle, placed in a challenging Champions League group alongside Milan, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund, had swiftly sold out their allocation of 3,500 tickets for the opening fixture.
However, the celebratory mood was marred by an unfortunate incident of violence in the city center, where a Newcastle fan was attacked and subsequently hospitalized. The club expressed its concern and stated that they were working with local authorities to understand the circumstances of the assault.
