Former Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has weighed in on Jadon Sancho’s situation after the player’s public disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho’s failure to apologize to Ten Hag led to his removal from training sessions and exclusion from the squad against Arsenal. In the days following, he was spotted attending the birthday party of NBA Star, John Wall alongside teammate Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Ferdinand expressed his bewilderment at Sancho’s actions, stating that he couldn’t comprehend why the player allowed photographs to be taken. He questioned whether Sancho had deliberately sought attention, considering his otherwise reserved nature. Ferdinand emphasized the impact of such behavior on Sancho’s relationship with the coach.
Last year, Ten Hag had arranged for Sancho to train independently in the Netherlands to enhance his physical and mental conditioning. He was later reintegrated into the team in February. Ferdinand speculated that Ten Hag’s approach towards Sancho might have changed.
“He (Ten Hag) wants to see the best from Sancho in every game. The manager has spoken publicly, and it seems like he doesn’t expect anything from him. If I were in Sancho’s shoes, I would focus on returning with top performances,” Ferdinand remarked.
