Mason Greenwood, who moved to Getafe on loan from Manchester United last summer, faced a hostile reception from Osasuna fans during his La Liga debut.
Greenwood, the English forward, made his first La Liga appearance as a substitute in the 77th minute of Getafe’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Osasuna. However, he was met with taunts and chants from Osasuna fans, who reportedly chanted phrases like “Death to Greenwood.”
This unwelcoming reception comes after Greenwood served an 18-month suspension at Manchester United due to alleged misconduct. Although he was cleared of all charges in February by the Crown Prosecution Service, Manchester United decided to loan him to Getafe following an internal investigation.
While Greenwood’s Getafe debut started positively, with the team drawing 2-2 when he entered the game, they eventually secured a 3-2 win. This marked Getafe’s second La Liga win of the season, and they are set to face Real Sociedad in their next match.
