During a Scottish Premiership match between the Rangers and St Johnstone, Rangers forward Danilo had to be rushed to the hospital in the middle of the game after a head-on collision with St Johnstone’s Liam Gordon. This incident occurred just 16 minutes into the match.

Danilo, a 24-year-old Brazilian who recently joined the Rangers from Dutch champions Feyenoord for a reported fee of approximately £6 million, had already made an impact this season with two goals in nine appearances for the Gers, one of which was against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

In the 16th minute, Danilo soared into the air to beat Gordon to the ball, capitalizing on an excellent cross from James Tavernier to score and put his team ahead. Unfortunately, shortly afterward, Danilo had to be substituted from the game due to the head collision with Gordon.

The collision was a painful one, as both players went up for the ball in the air, resulting in a head-on collision that left them both worse for wear. Danilo’s face immediately began to swell.

Despite his efforts to signal to the Rangers’ medical team that he was okay by giving them a thumbs-up, Danilo was promptly replaced following the head collision. A stretcher was prepared for him, but he managed to walk off the field, despite the severe facial injury. St Johnstone’s Gordon was also substituted immediately after the incident.

Although the Rangers went on to win the game 2-0, with Rabbi Matondo scoring their second goal, Danilo was unable to witness the rest of the match. Sky Sports’ commentator Ian Crocker, who was covering the game, reported, “He’s [Danilo] left the stadium and been taken to the hospital, with a suspected compound fracture.”

This injury could potentially leave Rangers without Danilo for their upcoming Europa League opener against Real Betis, who they are scheduled to host at Ibrox next Thursday night.
