Arsène Wenger, the legendary coach of Arsenal, has expressed regret over his decision to allow Ashley Cole to leave the club in 2006 during his 22-year tenure as manager.

Wenger, who managed Arsenal from 1996 to 2018, secured three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup victories during his tenure. However, he now reflects on the transfer of Cole to Chelsea 17 years ago as one of the most regrettable decisions of his managerial career. Cole, a former England international, made a high-profile move from Arsenal to Chelsea and went on to become one of the world’s best left-backs, achieving numerous trophies, including the coveted Champions League.

Speaking on David Seaman’s “Seaman Says Podcast,” Wenger admitted, “If anyone has had a better career since leaving Arsenal, I have to say Ashley Cole. He is the only player who was able to fulfill his dreams after leaving Arsenal.” Wenger expressed remorse over the decision, citing the importance of Cole to the team and his departure’s impact on the player.
