Raphael Varane’s injury increases Man Utd’s injury woes ahead of their matchup with Arsenal.

Manchester United's Raphael Varane's suspension for a few weeks has worsened their injury situation. Varane was replaced by Victor Lindelof during a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest. Erik ten Hag immediately removed Varane from the match, leaving him in the Old Trafford medical room. Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Mason Mount are also unable to attend the Emirates Stadium on Sunday due to their respective ailments.

Raphael Varane’s “for a few weeks” suspension has made Manchester United’s injury situation worse before of their match against Arsenal.

Varane won’t be available for Man Utd against Arsenal; a defender will be out “for a few weeks”; and United’s injury woes are getting worse.

WHAT OCCURED? During the 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest last Sunday, the French center-back had to be replaced by Victor Lindelof at halftime when the defender complained of pain. Erik ten Hag did not want to worsen the injury and brought him off right away with a match against Arsenal on the horizon.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Unfortunately, Varane joined fellow defenders Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the Old Trafford medical room since it was already too late. Due to their individual ailments, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Mason Mount are all unable to go to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

WHAT THEY SAID: A statement from United confirming the seriousness of Varane’s injury reads: “Raphael Varane will miss Sunday’s Premier League match between Manchester United and Arsenal due to injury. The French international left the game against Nottingham Forest at halftime of our 3-2 victory at Old Trafford on Saturday because of the problem, which is anticipated to keep him out for a few weeks.
