27 August (Reuters) Due to a late equalizer from Dusan Vlahovic, Juventus overcame a lackluster first half to hold Bologna at home to a 1-1 Serie A draw on Sunday.
The Serbian international headed a cross from Samuel Iling-Junior into the far bottom corner with a header from 12 yards out with ten seconds remaining in regulation.
Prior to the interval, Juventus had trouble producing meaningful chances and encountered jeers from the home crowd as they made their way to the locker room.
A game of two halves was played. As head coach Massimiliano Allegri wasn’t feeling well, deputy manager Marco Landucci told DAZN, “We told the guys they had a really excellent second half, but perhaps we were too anxious to create a huge impact on home ground and over-did it.
“We ran the danger of losing because we were so anxious to win. We took chances because we knew we would, but occasionally those risks paid off. It is a valid point, therefore we go on.
After 23 minutes, Bologna had its first serious opportunity of the game, but Dan Ndoye’s low effort from an angled drive was too feeble to past Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin.
A minute later, Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson stunned a rainy Allianz Stadium when, thanks to a cross from Joshua Zirkzee, the Scottish midfielder found space to direct the ball into the far bottom corner from inside the box.
Eight minutes after the half, Vlahovic thought the hosts had already gotten the equalizer. Nevertheless, a VAR review resulted in the goal being ruled against.
“Dusan played very well, moved very well, and when a striker is less frenetic, he is more effective,” said Landucci.
Timothy Weah of Juventus was stopped by an outstanding save by Bologna goalie Lukasz Skorupski.
After a VAR review, a contact with Iling-Junior went unpunished, giving the visitors an opportunity to increase the lead when Zirkzee’s effort was parried into Ndoye’s path. Bologna coach Thiago Motta was incensed and given a yellow card for dissent.
