Carney Chukwuemeka’s knee injury has forced him to miss six weeks of action, dealing Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino a severe setback.
Under Pochettino, the youngster had started both of Chelsea’s initial Premier League contests, but was benched in the 3-1 loss at West Ham.

Mykhailo Mudryk was replaced by Chukwuemeka, and the 22-year-old Ukrainian, who was acquired for almost £62 million last year, may now get more playing time with Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson in Chelsea’s front three.
Tuesday morning, Chelsea released the following statement: “Carney Chukwuemeka suffered a left knee injury during our match against West Ham United on Sunday. Carney had surgery last night, and he is now starting to recuperate. The club’s medical staff will assist the 19-year-old in his Cobham recuperation.
