Chelsea will likely acquire Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise as a free agent after triggering a £35 million release clause in his contract.
The Under-21 international from France is on track to become the club’s seventh significant acquisition of the summer.
London-born Olise joined the Eagles from Reading on a five-year contract in 2021 and had 11 assists for Palace last season in the Premier League.
Before leaving Chelsea’s youth system at age 14, Olise, now 21 years old, was a part of it.
He had a hamstring injury while representing France in the European Under-21 Championship, and is presently recovering from it.
The winger had a successful 2022–23 season with Palace, making 37 appearances, recording 11 assists, scoring two goals, and winning player of the year honors for the team.
Olise would join eight other senior newcomers at Stamford Bridge this summer, including Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo, who arrived from Brighton for a reported £100 million (and maybe a British club record £115 million) cost.
The London club now includes Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo Gabriel, Robert Sanchez, and Diego Moreira.
