With two more goals for Inter Miami and the introduction of a brand-new, legendary celebration, Lionel Messi continued his fantastical journey through America. In the opening period of Inter’s 4-0 Leagues Cup victory over Atlanta at the DRV PNK Stadium, the 36-year-old scored twice.

He was superbly set up for his first goal by ex-teammate and Barcelona player Sergio Busquets in the eighth minute. As ex-Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan ran out, Messi sprinted for goal, but his shot smacked against the post.

Fortunately for Messi, the ball rebounded back to him, giving him an easy opportunity to score into an empty net. He gave his standard “point to the sky” response after acknowledging his teammates’ cheers.

When he performed the “hold my beer” celebration, he caught eyes with Inter co-owner David Beckham, 48, who could be seen cheering from the sidelines.

Messi was beaming and simulated holding a pint with his hand in the air, much like Beckham. Then, in the 22nd minute, Messi doubled his total, scoring his third goal in just his second game for the MLS team. Once more, he scored from close range, this time sweeping the ball into the bottom right corner after Robert Taylor spotted him in the box unguarded.
