With the deal being deemed to be in an advanced stage, Liverpool has notified RB Leipzig that they would exercise Dominik Szoboszlai’s release clause.

As the Reds seek to rebuild their midfield, Szoboszlai has emerged as a surprising priority target. Interest was first reported on Wednesday.

Since then, the situation has quickly changed; on Friday morning, This Is Anfield reported that the club was ready to move forward with a deal. According to information obtained by local journalists from insiders in the negotiations, Liverpool will now exercise a release provision for the 22-year-old.

The two teams are currently in “advanced” talks, according to tweets from Paul Joyce of The Times and Dominic King of The Mail. As a result, any move for Szoboszlai is anticipated to cost €70 million (£60.1 million), as per the sum outlined in his contract with Leipzig.
