Lionel Messi has made his acting debut in a TV drama, after guiding Argentina to World Cup glory. The second season premiere of the Argentine comedy-drama “Los Protectores” (“The Protectors”), which debuted on Star + in Latin America on June 25, starred the Argentina captain, who will shortly play club football in the MLS with Inter Miami. Three soccer agents who are on the verge of going bankrupt decide to band together when a soccer star shows up in the television show.

While still a member of Paris Saint-Germain, Messi appears in a five-minute sequence in which he portrays himself. The three agents, played by Andres Parra, Adrian Suar, and Gustavo Bermudez, pay him a visit in the French capital.

The agents irritate Messi when they start asking for pictures, autographs, and films with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner while ostensibly discussing a scheme to aid young athletes who play for multiple European clubs. Renzo “Mago” Magoya, one of the group, then makes a crazy suggestion in which Messi would play one game for each team in Argentina. It makes for a difficult situation because Messi is not amused by the concept and is not scared to tell them what he thinks. After a while, everyone raises a glass of champagne to celebrate and the situation is resolved.
