They can now claim to be the European champions. With a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan on Saturday in Istanbul, Manchester City completed a historic treble by winning the UEFA Champions League. As Simone Inzaghi’s Inter put on a great defensive performance, full of bite and fury, it wasn’t vintage from City, but Rodri’s devastating strike late in the second half gave City the lead.

After defeating Manchester United on June 3, the three-time defending Premier League champions added the FA Cup to their resume and received the third and last piece of their treble on Saturday. Pep Guardiola has now accomplished a triple twice, the first time with Barcelona in 2008–09. The accomplishment provides United Domestic, a fierce competitor, competition on the triple stage in the near future.
