After falling just short of winning the Europa League on Wednesday night, Jose Mourinho dramatically waved at Roma’s supporters and threw his runners-up medal into the throng.

Prior to Roma’s trip to Budapest, Mourinho had a spotless record in European finals. But, he witnessed his team lose 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla, giving the Spanish team their seventh Europa League championship in as few as 17 years. Paulo Dybala gave Mourinho’s team the lead shortly after the hour mark, but Gianluca Mancini’s own goal in the 55th minute tied the game and made it a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation.

During extra time, the dramatic match—during which referee Anthony Taylor issued a total of 14 yellow cards—went to penalties, where Sevilla ultimately prevailed. Mourinho quickly made his way down the tunnel after tossing his runners-up medal into the crowd in the direction of a Roma supporter.
